BIR provides a financial aid package, based on federal guidelines, using a combination of grants and low interest direct loans from the U.S. Department of Education. Aid is awarded in the same order as presented below.
Pell Grant 07 - 08 Academic Year

- Eligibility determined by the U.S.
Department of Education.
- Annual Awards for the 2007-08 School Year $400 - $4,310
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant
- Does not have to be repaid
- Available to all students receiving Pell Grants
- $100 - $600 per academic year
Subsidized Direct Stafford Loan
- Must be repaid
- U.S. Department of Education pays interest while borrower is in school and during grace and deferment periods
- You must be at least a half time student
- $3,500 first academic year and $4,500 second academic year
Unsubsidized Direct Stafford Loan
- Must be repaid
- Borrower is responsible for interest during life of the loan
- You must be at least a half-time student
- Financial need is not a requirement
- Maximum of $4,000 for the first and second year
PLUS Loan
- Must be repaid
- Available to parents of dependent undergraduate students who are enrolled at least half time
- Maximum amount is cost of attendance minus any other financial aid the student receives
Other sources of financial aid
- In addition to federal student aid, you may be eligible for a state, local, or institutional grant. Speak with a counselor or financial aid specialist for more information.
